5 things to do in Bayfield, WI in the Fall.

Jordan and I just celebrated our anniversary and chose to do so in Bayfield (one of the cutest towns on the shores of Lake Superior). Now unfortunately our anniversary is in the Fall which meant temps were chilly so we didn’t get to explore the Apostle Islands by kayak; que next summers adventure.

However, we had loads of fun in the fall weather both in Bayfield and Madeline Island. Here are five musts when visiting..

1) Bayfield Winery

On your way in, check out this cute winery.. where you get six tastings of Apple inspired vino AND a cute wine glass to take home, all for $5!

My favorite: Cherry Farm House Cider

Jordan’s favorite: Queen’s Red

2) The Fat Radish

This cute shoppe is both a coffee Cafe and a restaurant in the evenings. They have a brillant Mexican Mocha and Blackberry scone that will change your life. After, take a short (few block) walk to the shore and take in the views, which are very dog friendly.

3) Madeline Island.

Hop aboard the ferry and head over but be sure to dress accordingly; it gets chilly on the ride in. There are no cabs on the island but you can rent mopeds or in our case rent a tandem bike!

Our ferry views (up) and our sweet ride (below)

4) Tom’s Burned Down Cafe

Once on the island, you need to check this place out which is quite literally a Cafe that burned down in the past and is remade with miscellaneous items.. it’s a “see-to-believe” kind of place. However, they have a great drinks and a sketch artist. Also, is extremely dog friendly as well as very friendly people! We had such a fun time.

And finally…

5)  The Ritten House Masion/B&B

We celebrated our anniversary in style. We had quite an amazing dinner. It was a gorgeous home, great service and the fish is spectacular. Doesn’t get fresher than this. A must when visiting Bayfield.

Seeing this town in the Fall was absolutely wonderful with so many things to do!

As far as a place to stay, we can’t recommend Ole and Lenas place enough. We got our own suite, which was great for the dogs. It was tucked in the woods and the coffee they made us was wonderful. They are an amazing couple with great stories.. and amazing views.

Not your typical “Netflix and Chill” kind of night..

We’re back!! Yes, we took a short break from our blog but have had quite the summer. Not only did we spend the Summer and Fall continuing to explore, finding wonderful dates along the way but Jordan asked me to marry him and I happily accepted.

We’ve spent time in the Boundary Waters to as far as Craig, Colorado but we will share those adventures with you later 😉

Now don’t get us wrong, the whole “Netflix and chill” is great and all but sometimes you just need to get gussied up and head 27 floors up! Jordan took me to the Foshay’s prohibition bar to enjoy cocktails and appetizers on a Thursday night and it was better than expected. Although it was quite busy, we found a cozy place to cuddle up and take in the room -literally, think prohibition era.

Plan to pay for parking and this bar is a little spendy but definitely worth the trouble. Not to mention, ladies beware it is quite a walk but once you get there, a cozy chair or sofa be waiting.

With these delicious drinks, you won’t find many teetotalers at this blind pig 🥂

It Doesn’t Get Sweeter Than This…

When in Vegas, all rules are out the door. Meaning if I want to eat my weight in dessert, well darn it, I’m going to. That’s precisely what happened at Sweets Raku! Although this place isn’t on the strip, it’s about an hour walk (15 min Uber) and well worth it. It’s located in a strip mall; the big line out the door will give you an idea of where to go. Jordan and I waited and waited before finally getting sat; there are about 21 seats in this bad boy so be prepared to fight for a stop or at least dedicate a few hours to waiting. We ordered lunch and desserts and everything was perfect and very inventive. I recommend sitting at the bar so you can watch their renowned pastry chef making all the wonderful desserts! If you are in Vegas, definitely take a look off the beaten path and check this place out. You won’t be disappointed.

The amazing wine flight and cheese plate with lobster bisque soup and Caesar salads before our main course.

Mango sherbet and coffee gelly before the main desserts.

It’s Never Too Cold…

For ice cream!!

Ice cream is the key to my heart. Which is why Jordan always enjoys taking me for a cone.. He knows what he’s doing 😉

We visited Sebastian Joe’s in Uptown on Saturday night and it was delicious! It was a little busy but the lines went fast and were well worth it! The ice cream here is amazing and definitely worth the trip!

Bright Lights, Big City

Jordan and I have been quite busy as of late between work, school, house hunting  and travel, our blog has taken a bit of the backseat! However, we went on so many fabulous dates in the big apple and can’t wait to share them.

If you find yourself in the city and you’re up for some laughs, constant, belly hurting, laughs.. The Comedy Cellar is the place you!

Not only are there reasonable prices, deliciously strong drinks and some hilarious comedians, the wait time for the show is minimal. However, as far as food goes, Jordan and I only drank at the show because it’s a weird seating chart to be eating in our opinion.

We stopped at the pizza joint around the corner and woofed down a slice of thee most amazing pizza in NYC!

This is a must when you’re in the big city.

Climbing to the Top

Never stop reaching for the stars, literally or figuratively! Vertical endeavors in Minneapolis helps you attempt this goal. We went in the afternoon on Tuesday, which turned out to be a good idea; it’s gets quite busy around 5pm. We were able to climb a few walls before heading out for some pho. Now eat-street (Nicollett Ave) has some awesome pho spots but we ended up at Pho79. Following, we ended at our favorite spot, Glamdoll, for some donuts. Although rock climbing made it hard to lift the donuts to our mouths, we managed and are happy campers this evening 🙂

Let’s Get Wild!

Sporting events are thee best dates! Nothing like insane cheering and consuming/drinking thousands of calories in one sitting. It screams romance, huh? Maybe not, but it does get you out of your comfort zone to enjoy one another. One of our favorite dates is watching the Minnesota Wild play at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. Don’t get me wrong, we love having a romantic dinners out and would have loved to grab a bite at one of the amazing St. Paul restaurants before hand but there wasn’t any empty seat at any nearby. However, the X has so many delicious options as well! We parked a little farther from the X to avoid the traffic post game in the ramps- big tip! Have fun enjoying your favorite team 😉

Thank you, Thank you.

Newer to Blaine but a wonderful addition, Kintaro Sushi and Hibachi doesn’t disappoint. Whether you’re ordering sushi or something fried, you can’t go wrong. Jord and I were lucky enough to receive a gift card to this restaurant and amidst all the shopping, we decided to stop in. It was a slower afternoon but we were sat and greeted right away. Their General Tso’s chicken was wonderful as well as their sushi appetizer! Stop in and give this gem a try!

Home Away From Home

And that’s exactly what the Moondance Inn is. You’re welcomed with wine and cheese as you check in to this marvelous home. With each room complete with a whirl pool tub, the goal is to relax your entire stay. Jord and I headed to Red Wing with our best friends for a weekend of bliss. The Moondance Inn also has many deals and perks of spending an entire weekend so we enjoyed a free meal at a local restaurant on them! Finishing up our evening we played board games in the  attic with a glow from the fireplace. I know you’re thinking it cant get any better then that.. But yes it can. Sunday morning coffee and tea served at 8:30 followed by a delicious breakfast; the cook even takes all dietary needs into consideration.  The care-takers at the Moondance really go above and beyond! We will all be back for many years to come.
