Not your typical “Netflix and Chill” kind of night..

We’re back!! Yes, we took a short break from our blog but have had quite the summer. Not only did we spend the Summer and Fall continuing to explore, finding wonderful dates along the way but Jordan asked me to marry him and I happily accepted.

We’ve spent time in the Boundary Waters to as far as Craig, Colorado but we will share those adventures with you later 😉

Now don’t get us wrong, the whole “Netflix and chill” is great and all but sometimes you just need to get gussied up and head 27 floors up! Jordan took me to the Foshay’s prohibition bar to enjoy cocktails and appetizers on a Thursday night and it was better than expected. Although it was quite busy, we found a cozy place to cuddle up and take in the room -literally, think prohibition era.

Plan to pay for parking and this bar is a little spendy but definitely worth the trouble. Not to mention, ladies beware it is quite a walk but once you get there, a cozy chair or sofa be waiting.

With these delicious drinks, you won’t find many teetotalers at this blind pig 🥂

It Doesn’t Get Sweeter Than This…

When in Vegas, all rules are out the door. Meaning if I want to eat my weight in dessert, well darn it, I’m going to. That’s precisely what happened at Sweets Raku! Although this place isn’t on the strip, it’s about an hour walk (15 min Uber) and well worth it. It’s located in a strip mall; the big line out the door will give you an idea of where to go. Jordan and I waited and waited before finally getting sat; there are about 21 seats in this bad boy so be prepared to fight for a stop or at least dedicate a few hours to waiting. We ordered lunch and desserts and everything was perfect and very inventive. I recommend sitting at the bar so you can watch their renowned pastry chef making all the wonderful desserts! If you are in Vegas, definitely take a look off the beaten path and check this place out. You won’t be disappointed.

The amazing wine flight and cheese plate with lobster bisque soup and Caesar salads before our main course.

Mango sherbet and coffee gelly before the main desserts.

It’s Never Too Cold…

For ice cream!!

Ice cream is the key to my heart. Which is why Jordan always enjoys taking me for a cone.. He knows what he’s doing 😉

We visited Sebastian Joe’s in Uptown on Saturday night and it was delicious! It was a little busy but the lines went fast and were well worth it! The ice cream here is amazing and definitely worth the trip!

Climbing to the Top

Never stop reaching for the stars, literally or figuratively! Vertical endeavors in Minneapolis helps you attempt this goal. We went in the afternoon on Tuesday, which turned out to be a good idea; it’s gets quite busy around 5pm. We were able to climb a few walls before heading out for some pho. Now eat-street (Nicollett Ave) has some awesome pho spots but we ended up at Pho79. Following, we ended at our favorite spot, Glamdoll, for some donuts. Although rock climbing made it hard to lift the donuts to our mouths, we managed and are happy campers this evening 🙂

Home Away From Home

And that’s exactly what the Moondance Inn is. You’re welcomed with wine and cheese as you check in to this marvelous home. With each room complete with a whirl pool tub, the goal is to relax your entire stay. Jord and I headed to Red Wing with our best friends for a weekend of bliss. The Moondance Inn also has many deals and perks of spending an entire weekend so we enjoyed a free meal at a local restaurant on them! Finishing up our evening we played board games in the  attic with a glow from the fireplace. I know you’re thinking it cant get any better then that.. But yes it can. Sunday morning coffee and tea served at 8:30 followed by a delicious breakfast; the cook even takes all dietary needs into consideration.  The care-takers at the Moondance really go above and beyond! We will all be back for many years to come.

A Blast from the (Polish) Past.

Just your typical Saturday night, complete with a piano bar AND polka band. In NE Minneapolis, you won’t experience anything quite like Nye’s Polonaise Restaurant and Bar.  The fun (piano and Polka) start at 8:30 which is also when the crowd starts to build. Jord and I had one of their famous martinis in the bar to enjoy the Polka band while waiting for our table. Once ready, we went to the side with the piano and restaurant to enjoy a wonderful, very generous-portioned meal. Young or old, this place is a blast from the past and a wonderful time, full of laughs and smiles. Be sure to make it here before January; unfortunately, this diamond in the rough is closing its doors. Nye’s is too spectualar to miss out on.

Our Theory on Dating

The goal of this blog is to help couples go on better dates. However, we realize that not all couples are at the same dating stage. Thus, we have determined that there are two main types of dates: first dates and not first dates. (No brainer, huh?)

In our eyes, first dates need to be more affordable, low-pressure, offer the opportunity to converse with one another, and most importantly have an “escape route” for the dates that go sour.

For those couples who have made it past date one, we theorize that the best of dates have three parts: a beginning, middle, and end, if you will. Typically the beginning is some type of activity. Upon completing said activity, hunger inevitably strikes, so the middle portion of the date involves food. Following a meal, a “nightcap” to the date is optional. This stage is reserved for veterans of the dating game and may even insure a goodnight kiss… or morning kiss for that matter.

We hope you enjoy all of our adventures and hopefully they inspire you with yours 🙂

Wakey, Wakey, Eggs and COFFEE!

Early morning road trips require a stop at a cute little coffee shop. On the way to Rochester for my brothers wedding, we stubbled across this social gathering site for many at Area 57!  We were quickly greeted not only by the staff but by many of the guests too (I sure do love ‘Minnesota-nice’ small towns). Jordan always enjoys his dark roasts but I tend to like something sweeter so I decided on their Carmel latte and was definitely pleased! If you’re ever headed down south, this place is worth the stop.

Dolled up to Dine Out

Any day of the week can be “date night”, even a Wednesday. With Fall transitioning into Winter and both of our schedules packed to the brim, we felt it necessary to spend some quality time together feasting on salmon and rib roast at Kincaids in St.Paul. The food was delicious and our view… Wow. It was a gorgeous view of the streets of St.Paul; the only thing that would make it better would be a light snowfall (after all, I’m Minnesotan). That being said, once Winter is fully here, we will be back! And with helpful staff and a quiet setting, it was a wonderful evening out. Don’t even fret about parking, they will validate your card if you park in the ramp!

Desserts highly recommended* 😉
